Newly-decorated Navy Captains charged on upholding integrity

The Flag Officer, Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral KA Lawal, on Monday charged five newly-decorated Captains on the importance of keeping their integrity.
All five promoted officers; Captain PS Ozah, Captain MC Okogba, Captain S. Ahmadu, Captain VT Abayol, and Captain AO Oyeneyi, are under the Naval Training Command.

At a brief ceremony which held at the Officers’ Mess of NNS Quorra, Apapa Lagos, Rear Admiral Lawal charged the officers to continue to be upright, professional and embrace the spirit of teamwork, which are the core values of the Navy.

He extolled the officers for their brilliance and expressed satisfaction to the fact that the officers contribute remarkably to the building of other personnel through their duties.

Also speaking, the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Jason Gbassa, advised the officers to be prepared for the responsibility ahead of them, while they keep doing the peculiar thing that makes them outstanding.

He said: “For you to be a navy captain there is nothing anybody can advise you, rather you are to advise us who are older and also advise those coming behind you.

“Remain who you are. It is who you are that brought you to where you are. You know who you are. Be more focused.

“The navy saw something in you, because not everyone who was presented for this rank got it. You know that special thing in you that is working for you.

“Your profiles show that you are very promising young men, so just remain who you are. Take care of your family, because they are part of who you are.”

Earlier, the newly-promoted officers were advised to remain focused and  to immediately begin to think on what they would be offering to deserve the next promotion.

They were particularly advised on the importance of character, besides being intelligent, as both must work together to make a brilliant officer of the Nigerian Navy.
