ACP Bode Ojajuni honoured with Area Commander of the Year 2021

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has been honoured in and outside Nigeria, for exceptional interpersonal skills in serving the public and developing valuable code of conduct for his chosen profession.

In 2007, he was honoured with “Outstanding African Nations Builder’s Gold Award” in Accra Ghana. He has equally won the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) Award on two previous occasions.

His two Alma Maters ; Lagos State University, and Ondo State University, now University of Ado Ekiti, have honoured him with Distinguished Alumnus Awards.

Positive and keen to succeed, Ojajuni is a well exposed officer with acknowledged leadership attributes. He picks up skills quickly and applies them successfully, through the use of initiative and the ability to deliver patriotic service to fatherland.

He is a master strategist, an effective communicator and result-oriented cop, who has gained the confidence of his superiors and the general public.

Ojajuni who hails from Ondo State, joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1996.

He had served in Adamawa, Lagos, Delta and Ogun State Police Commands.

His postings include:

  • The Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police, 2017 to January 2019.
  • Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, (2005-2007)
  • Divisional Police Officer(DPO) , Bode Thomas Division, Surulere, Lagos, (2007-2009)
  • Officer in Charge of Anti-fraud Section, SCID Panti, Yaba (2011- 2012)
  • Squadron Commander 20 PMF Ikeja, Lagos
  • Squadron Commander 49 PMF Epe, Lagos
  • Squadron Commander 31 PMF Asaba, Delta State
  • Squadron Commander 16 PMF Abeokuta
  • Chairman, Petroleum Taskforce and Officer- in- Charge of Anti-robbery section, SCID, Yola Adamawa State.

Presently, Ojajuni is the Area Commander Area “A” Lion Building, Lagos.

In the course of his duty as Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, Ojajuni established the Human Rights Desk and Human Rights Resources Centre for the State Command in 2006. This has now been replicated in all commands nationwide.

He also established the Police, Military and Para- military Forum (MILPOPPROF) in 2006, after he had a close-shave with death; he was brutally attacked and abducted when soldiers clashed  with policemen and set on fire the Area “C” Command Headquarters, at Ojuelegba, Surulere Lagos.

The objective of MILPOPPROF is to foster and promote unity among security agencies. This has largely been achieved nationwide.

Lagos Island is the hub of economic activities and headquarters to majority of corporate organisations.  The Island, which falls within his Area of Responsibility (AoR) has recorded calmness since his assumption of duty as Area Commander, which is unlike the restive past. Now, the calm in the area has created a conducive environment for business activities, economic growth and peaceful atmosphere.

The nucleus of his patriotism and professionalism was demonstrated in his handling of the #EndSARS protest in Lagos Island in 2020. No loss of life, no looting of any kind, while critical national infrastructure was protected alongside lives and property of citizens.

In 2014, he attended the Tactical Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College in Jos.

In 2021, he attended Strategic Leadership Command Course at the prestigious National Institute of Police Studies, Abuja.
