Acting Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers’
Council, Mrs Dabney Shalhoma, at the weekend donated relief materials to
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Hong local council of Adamawa State.

Making the presentation in Gombi town, Shalhoma said
the gesture was aimed at identifying with the IDPs and give them a sense of
belonging during this season.
Shalhoma, who hails from Garha village, said she was
also a victim of Boko Haram insurgency, adding that she lost some of her relations
and property to attacks by the terrorists.
She said: “It is regrettable and sad that human begins
are experiencing this kind of situation caused by other human beings. It is
unfortunate that the most defenceless people are the victims of this dastardly
act.
 “I will
continue to visit you and keep encouraging you; this is just my first visit, I
will continue to come and see you. In life, whenever you fall, you rise again;
we know there is a lot of psychological trauma, but we shall surely overcome
it.”
The acting executive secretary urged the people to be
vigilant and conscious of their environment, adding that security of lives and
property should not be left to security personnel alone.
Receiving
the materials, the District Head of Garha, Mr Ibrahim Bulus, lauded the gesture
and urged others to emulate the council to complement government efforts.
