Customs Command intercepts firearms at Murtala Muhammed International Airport

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said it has arrested one Mr. Afolabi Olumide with passport number B50120017, for being in possession of a pistol with two magazines containing 26 rounds of ammunition.

Spokesman of the Command, DSC Victor Ogagbor, said in a statement that operatives of the command made the arrest on 13th of April 2022 while on routine examination at the ‘D’ wing of the arrival hall at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to the statement, Mr. Olumide with passport number B50120017 was arriving from Washington DC via United Airlines.

The statement further disclosed that: “The suspected passenger had earlier been accused by Nigeria Immigration Service of illegally being in possession of 2 International Passports.

“The importation of the firearm contravenes Schedule 4 of the Customs and Excise and Management Act, which is an Absolute Prohibition.

“NCS MMIA Command has since handed over the suspect and the Arms to the Department of States Services.”
