The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) on Tuesday appointed Engr. Emmanuel Ilori as Chairman of the Implementation Committee for the proposed Nigerian Ship Registry revitalisation.

The Ship Registry Implementation Committee was established by NIMASA to ensure the immediate and thorough implementation of the recommendations offered by an earlier committee (the Report )to review the Ship Registry for efficiency in its operations.

NIMASA said that the choice of Ilori as chairman of the Implementation Committee is in recognition of the important role he played in the work of the committee that reviewed the operations of the Ship Registry Office.

The Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, was represented on the occasion by the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services, Alhaji Gambo Ahmed.

While NIMASA  promised to support the Committee to implement the recommendations, Ilori also promised that the Committee would deliver its best to ensure a revitalised Ship Registry for Nigeria.
