48 ships expected at Lagos ports with foods, petroleum products

 Forty-eight ships laden with various cargoes are expected to arrive at the Lagos ports from Oct. 14 to Nov.1.

 The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) disclosed this in its daily 'Shipping Position, made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Lagos.

The NPA said 17 of the expected ships would bring in containers, while seven others will arrive with general cargoes.

Food items including frozen fish, buckwheat, bulk sugar and bulk salt are expected to arrive in 17 ships, the NPA said.

The remaining seven ships will sail in with base oil, petrol, diesel and aviation fuel, the NPA said.

Meanwhile, 12 ships have arrived and waiting to berth at the Lagos ports.

Ten of the ships sailed in with petrol, while the remaining two brought in bulk gas and general cargo.
