Over 2000 customs officers await promotion

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Monday announced that it would soon conclude the promotion process of over 2000 senior officers who sat for competitive computer-based examination and oral interview.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Monday by the Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Mr. Wale Adeniyi.
 
He said the Comptroller-General of Customs (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko had recommended that the list of successful officers be ratified by the NCS board.
 
Adeniyi also announced the promotion of 2132 junior officers who took part in the 2014 promotion examination exercise.
 
He said that the Comptroller-General of Customs(CGC), Dikko, gave the approval for the release of the promotion results.
 
“The Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi gave the approval to release the promotion results following the conclusion of the exercise in Abuja today,“ Adeniyi said.
 
He further said that the promotion examination tests were paper-based and oral interviews that were conducted in all Customs formations in October and November 2014.
 
Adeniyi also made known that, of the total number of junior officers  promoted, 1889 were in the General Duty Cadre, while the balance of 243 were Support staff.
 
He said that 1006 officers were promoted from the rank of Assistant Inspector to the Inspector rank, while 5 Customs Assistants 1 were promoted to the rank of Senior Customs Assistants,1007Customs Assistant II were promoted to Customs Assistant 1, while 215 Customs Assistant II got promoted to Customs  Assistant II, Adeniyi said.
He said that the CGC  urged the promoted officers to re-double their  efforts, while he was congratulating them.
