The Nigeria Police, Delta Command, has apprehended three suspects attempting to steal an electricity transformer belonging to the former Niger Delta Warlord, Mr Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo.

According to a police source, the suspects were nabbed at about 7:00 pm by the operatives of the (A Division) Warri on Sunday .

They were alleged to have been found with the transformer being one of the property confiscated by the Federal Government from Tompolo.

It was gathered that the suspects: Okugbe Lucky, Chime Chukwuka and Usman Shaibu allegedly loaded the transformer into a Mercedez Benz Self-loader.

The car with Registration Number: (Edo) XE 763 BEN was intercepted while leaving the premises of the property in a jetty located closed to the Chevron Clinic in Edjeba, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta state.

Speaking on the development, Media Consultant to Tompolo, Mr Paul Bebenimibo, said that property worth billions of Naira had been stolen from the yard since it was taken over by the federal government years ago.

He said "we have reported these stealing to government’s top hierarchy, but they turned the deaf ear until now."

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta Police Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka when contacted for confirmation said he would get back later.

" Everybody seems to be interested in the report," he said.
