NPA to strengthen partnership with Kano Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Malam Habib Abdullahi, has promised to maintain stronger ties with the Kano Chamber of Commerce and Industry by ensuring the posting of a staff of the organisation to man the office given to it recently by the Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.


A statement in Lagos by the General Manager, Public Affairs of the NPA, Capt. Iheanacho Ebubeogu said that while receiving a delegation of the Kano State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Managing Director asked that a formal proposal be forwarded to his office concerning the request for NPA to have a permanent pavilion at the Kano State Trade Fair complex.

Abdullahi commended the strategic role of Kano indigenes in concessioned ports industry as represented by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Greenview Development Nigerian Limited (GDNL) and Alhaji Samad Rabiu of BUA Industries Limited.

He also assured the delegation of the NPA’s desire to maintain a continuous    participation in the yearly Trade Fair in Kano, as it had done since the inception of the Trade Fair.

Earlier in his address, the President of the Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Malam Umar Farouk Rabiu(Dansuleka) requested that the NPA should build a permanent Pavilion at the Kano State Trade Fair ground.

He said that as a mark for its respect for the continuous presence of NPA at all its past trade fair, the chamber had provided a permanent office for the organisation at its secretariat to promote port business.

Mallam Rabiu also promised to continue to promote NPA and the maritime industry; he said that he was honoured to be visiting for the second time in 2016 and commended the Managing Director and his Management for doing a good job in the ports.

With the President of the Kano State Chamber of Commerce Industry and Mines were Vice President, Uba Mijinyawa and the Treasurer Dr. M. D.Yusuf.
